The Court of Appeal had upheld a High Court decision that her claim, started in May 2013, was statute barred.

Ruth Moram has been refused leave to appeal to the Supreme Court in her personal injury case against the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Ireland and others. The determination was delivered on 1 October 2015.

The other respondents are Andrew Beeston, Peter Van Benthem and Martyn Bell. Ms Moram, who represented herself, claimed she was injured by the unlawful activities of the respondents in 2004.

The High Court struck out her case as statute barred. On 20 July 2015, the Court of Appeal upheld that decision in a judgment by Mr Justice Kelly. It counted time from 2009, which was more favourable to Ms Moram than the respondents' position. Her proceedings were issued on 23 May 2013.

The Supreme Court said it is not an appellate court to correct error. It added that it saw no error in the Court of Appeal's decision in any event.

It found that no matter of general public importance had been raised. It also found that an appeal was not necessary in the interests of justice.

The court accepted the Court of Appeal's view of her motivation. It said that did not bring her within the Supreme Court's jurisdiction. Leave to appeal was refused.
