A Romanian woman giving evidence at the Central Criminal Court has denied washing floors following the death of her partner at an apartment in Cavan in October 2012. Florentina Sotir (41) is a witness in the trial of Przemyslaw Trebacz (35) of Bramble Rise, Killynebber, Cavan, who has pleaded not guilty to murder. The prosecution alleges that Trebacz stabbed Costel Catalin Cretu (38) during a break-in at Connolly Court, Connolly Street, Cavan between 13 and 14 October 2012. Under cross-examination, Ms Sotir was questioned about a 26-minute gap between the departure of two men from the apartment and her entry to the lobby. She stated she was attempting to revive Mr Cretu by throwing water on him rather than cleaning. The court heard State Pathologist Professor Marie Cassidy concluded Mr Cretu died from a fatal chest wound. Trebacz has pleaded guilty to criminal damage. The trial continues.
