A man already serving a life sentence for murder has received an additional 12-year sentence for firearms offences at the Central Criminal Court. Darren Wynne, aged 21 from Athy, County Kildare, was convicted in July of murdering Jamie Lindsay in April 2013. At today's sentencing, Mr Justice Garrett Sheehan imposed 12 years for possession of a sawn-off shotgun and ammunition with intent to endanger life, and eight years for possession of the firearm in suspicious circumstances. The final two years of each sentence were suspended, conditional on compliance with his sentence management programme. Both sentences are to run concurrently with his existing life sentence. The judge considered Wynne's youth at the time, previously good character, and cooperation with gardaí. Two other men convicted alongside Wynne for manslaughter in the same incident received sentences of eight and seven years respectively in July.
