A convicted sex offender has been sentenced to two years imprisonment, with the final six months suspended, at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for multiple breaches of a child protection order. Anthony Luckwill, a UK citizen aged 45, has convictions for possession of child pornography in Ireland and Wales, along with other sexual offences. In July 2012, a court imposed 16 protective orders against him under the Sex Offenders Act 2001. The court heard that in November 2016, Luckwill approached a woman at the Longford Arms hotel, presenting himself as involved in modelling and encouraging her to send her young sons for auditions. He had rented premises in Longford town under false pretences. Gardaí located him and discovered electronic devices containing 104 images of young boys in their underwear. Luckwill admitted breaching the 2012 order by possessing these images, changing his name by deed poll in February 2017, and accessing social networking sites. Judge Pauline Codd stated the most serious breach involved his attempt to gain access to children by misrepresenting himself.
