Kevin Lunney suffered 'extreme pain', trial hears

A medical examination of Kevin Lunney, director of Quinn Industrial Holdings, revealed extensive injuries sustained during an abduction and assault on September 17, 2019, at Drumbrade, Ballinagh, County Cavan. Dr Muhammad Ashraf Butt of Cavan General Hospital told the Special Criminal Court that Mr Lunney remained in significant pain and bore visible scarring more than a month after the incident. The doctor documented multiple lacerations to the face requiring twenty-four stitches, slash wounds to the arms and torso, and a fractured tibia that necessitated surgical repair. Mr Lunney described his pain as extreme and reported psychological effects including sleep disturbance and fear of public spaces. Four men have pleaded not guilty to false imprisonment and intentionally causing serious harm. The trial before Mr Justice Tony Hunt, with Judge Gerard Griffin and Judge David McHugh, continues at the Special Criminal Court.
