Luke O'Reilly, one of four men charged in connection with the abduction of businessman Kevin Lunney, described Cyril McGuinness as "like a big crazy bastard" and "not a good yoke" during garda interviews, the Special Criminal Court in Dublin has heard. Mr O'Reilly, aged 67, of Mullahoran Lower, Kilcogy, County Cavan, pleaded not guilty to false imprisonment and intentionally causing serious harm to Mr Lunney at Drumbrade, Ballinagh, County Cavan on 17 September 2019. Detective Garda Sean O'Brien told the court of interviews conducted at Monaghan Garda Station in November 2019 where Mr O'Reilly stated he was shocked to learn that Mr Lunney had been held in a trailer on his land. Mr O'Reilly said he had dealt with McGuinness, known as Dublin Jimmy, for over fifteen years regarding vehicle imports but did not wish further association with him. He expressed regret about Mr Lunney's treatment. Three other men have also pleaded not guilty to the charges.
