A British national has been ordered to be extradited from Ireland to face trial in the United Kingdom on allegations of murder or manslaughter. Ms Justice Caroline Biggs of the High Court ruled on the extradition of the 29-year-old man, whose co-accused had his surrender ordered earlier this month. Both men are accused in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 24-year-old in Carlisle in September 2021. According to the extradition warrant, the accused was allegedly captured on CCTV footage stabbing the victim multiple times. UK police allege the two men later returned to the scene and subsequently fled the jurisdiction, travelling through Northern Ireland before being arrested by gardaí in County Mayo on 29 September. The defence had challenged aspects of the warrant, but the judge found no impediment to extradition. The accused has been remanded in custody pending the completion of extradition arrangements.
