A former Sinn Féin councillor turned State's witness has denied allegations that he was recorded planning mass murder and discussing bomb-making during conversations with an accused man in March 2016. Jonathan Dowdall, testifying for a fifth day at the Special Criminal Court, rejected suggestions he had discussed planting explosives, arranging assassinations, or kidnappings on audio recordings captured during a journey to County Tyrone. Under cross-examination by defence counsel, Dowdall disputed characterisations of his remarks about electrical circuits and detonators, stating these discussions never resulted in any actual provision of materials. The evidence relates to an ongoing case involving allegations connected to a fatal shooting at a Dublin hotel in February 2016. Dowdall has previously testified that the accused made certain admissions to him in a park conversation weeks after the incident.
