At the Special Criminal Court in Dublin on 12 May 2023, Paul Murphy and Jason Bonney were sentenced to combined jail terms of 17 and a half years for their roles as getaway drivers during the Regency Hotel attack in February 2016. Murphy, aged 61 of Swords, County Dublin, received nine years imprisonment, whilst Bonney, aged 52 of Portmarnock, Dublin, was sentenced to eight and a half years. Both men were convicted in April of facilitating the murder of Kinahan Cartel member David Byrne by providing access to motor vehicles for members of the rival Hutch criminal organisation. Presiding Justice Tara Burns found their assistance was significant, as they transported gunmen away from the scene following the shooting at St Vincent's GAA car park. The judge determined their participation fell within the upper range of offending, emphasising that such operations cannot succeed without organised logistical support.
