Man died pushing niece to safety, court hears

A man who died after being struck by a car on Lord Edward Street in Ballina, County Mayo, has been remembered in court as an exemplary citizen whose final act demonstrated extraordinary selflessness. James Moyles, aged thirty-three, was fatally injured on February twentieth, two thousand twenty-four, whilst crossing the road whilst holding his four-year-old niece's hand. Keith O'Brien, aged fifty, of Lowvalley, Crossmolina, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death at Castlebar Circuit Criminal Court.
