A 32-year-old man has pleaded guilty at the Special Criminal Court to four offences including cocaine possession with intent to supply and making threats to kill, following the withdrawal of more serious charges. Mark Salmon, originally charged with 16 offences including directing a criminal organisation and extortion demands exceeding €250,000, entered guilty pleas on a full facts basis. The cocaine charge relates to drug transportation to Carrick-on-Shannon, County Leitrim on 26 March 2024. Salmon also admitted acquiring proceeds of criminal conduct valued at approximately €84,000 across 2022 and 2023, and making threats of serious harm to another man between January and May 2024. The court heard that victim impact statements would be prepared ahead of sentencing. Presiding Justice Karen O'Connor granted legal aid for a psychological report and adjourned the case to 11 May 2026. Salmon was remanded in custody.
