A 39-year-old self-employed carpenter from Cavan has been disqualified from driving for two years following a conviction for drink driving. Eduard Hupalov was stopped by gardaí on Belgard Road, Dublin 24, on 25 February 2024, after officers observed the vehicle and noted the driver had glassy eyes and slurred speech. He was arrested and brought to Terenure Garda Station, where a breathalyser test revealed his blood alcohol concentration was 61mg per 100ml, more than twice the legal driving limit. Hupalov pleaded guilty to the offence contrary to the Road Traffic Act 2010 at Tallaght District Court. The court heard he had no previous convictions and that no damage was caused. Judge Brendan O'Reilly imposed a fine of €300 and the two-year driving ban.
