Father-of-two stabbed through the heart, murder trial hears

Summary

The trial of Alan Harte, a 32‑year‑old from Glasnevin, is hearing evidence that Peter Gunn, 28, was stabbed through the heart and left in a water‑filled ditch on 4 January 2009. State Pathologist Professor Marie Cassidy described the autopsy findings: deep knife wounds to the face, trunk, right hand and internally to the heart and left lung, with a large gaping wound to the heart and collapsed left lung. Two litres of blood were found in the left chest cavity, and a back wound cut into the spine. Toxicology showed alcohol, cocaine and an amphetamine. Cassidy concluded Gunn died of a stab wound to the chest. A witness, Heyrush Rama, testified that he drove Gunn's body to the ditch after being asked for a lift by Kastriot Boza, who later claimed Gunn was murdered. Rama received a two‑year sentence for withholding information. The case remains at the trial stage.
