Alleged victim agrees she recently had sex with HIV accused

Summary

The former wife of a man accused of infecting her with HIV has admitted under cross‑examination that she had sex with him in a hotel in May of the previous year. She had initially denied this but, after a court break, accepted that she met the accused, a 27‑year‑old, and had sex with him at that location. She also conceded that she might have had sex with him on two other occasions in 2016, though she denied it. She told the jury that she became pregnant soon after starting a relationship with the accused in early 2010 and discovered she was HIV positive following routine hospital tests. She said the accused had agreed to use a condom the first time they had sex, but after intercourse on this occasion she noticed he was not wearing one. The unnamed accused pleaded not guilty.
