Jail for man (52) who sexually assaulted girl (6) he minded
Summary
A 52‑year‑old man was jailed for three years after pleading guilty in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to sexually assaulting a six‑year‑old girl he was looking after while her mother worked. The offences occurred between 20 May 2018 and 30 June 2018. The man met the mother on a dating app in 2017, moved into her one‑bedroom flat two weeks later, and while she worked night shifts he looked after the daughter. He slept on the couch but when alone with the child he slept in the same double bed. The mother consented to him bathing and showering the daughter. On the last day of June the girl told her mother that the man had touched her inappropriately. The man admitted to four incidents in which he had rubbed his penis on the child, touched her vagina, smacked her bum and kissed her mouth, claiming he was not erect and did not ejaculate.
