Dealers used "vulnerable man" after threatening to smash-up home

Summary

Ciaran Wolverson, 53, of Edenmore Crescent, Raheny, was charged with permitting his home to be used for the sale or supply of controlled drugs after local drug dealers threatened to smash his house following his mother's death. He admitted that youths would come to his house, enter a back room while he stayed elsewhere, and mix and bag drugs, leaving him a small piece of heroin. Gardaí, acting on confidential information, searched his home on 5 October 2017 and seized eight bags of cocaine (worth about €17,000) and heroin (about €740). Wolverson pleaded guilty. Judge Melanie Greally, after hearing evidence, placed him on one year's probation, noting his cooperation, family support and efforts to address his long‑standing heroin habit. She imposed a four‑year sentence suspended for four years and ordered an additional 12 months of probation supervision. No prison time was imposed.
