Summary
In a Dublin Circuit Criminal Court hearing, the mother of one of four girls alleged to have been sexually assaulted by a childcare worker testified that her daughter repeatedly expressed discomfort about attending the crèche. The mother said the child visibly did not want to go and had spoken on several occasions that she did not want to go, but did not explain why. She also noted that the alleged perpetrator's behaviour towards her had changed in the six months before the allegations surfaced, including a lack of eye contact. The mother recounted that the girl first made the allegation to her father in November 2016, and that she learned of the allegations when the crèche contacted them on 12 December 2016. She described the girl as very upset and defensive when she first told her mother that the man had touched her privates.
