Man (63) admitted viewing child abuse material 'for years'
Summary
Ciaran Moore, 63, of Castleknock, pleaded guilty in the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to knowingly possessing child pornography on four devices. He admitted to viewing such material for about five years, having first been alerted by Gardaí to two images posted in July 2016. The images were traced to his IP address, leading to a search of his home in November 2016. In May 2019, forensic analysis of the devices revealed 536 images and 35 video files depicting children aged one to fourteen in sexual activities, including penetrative sex involving girls aged six to ten. Moore, who has no prior convictions, acknowledged the harm caused to victims, his family, and the public. He was remanded on bail pending a Probation Service report, with the case adjourned to February 22 for sentencing. He has been registered as a sexual offender since his guilty plea.
