String of 'reprehensible' attacks on partner sees man jailed
Summary
Evan Keogh, aged 26, was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison for three assaults on his partner between April 2017 and January 2018. In April 2017 he pulled her down the stairs, causing her to fall and injure her arm. In December 2017 he bent her ankle, inflicting pain and leaving her limping for days. In January 2018 he struck her face, splitting her lip and biting her finger, which had been broken three years earlier. Keogh pleaded guilty to three counts of assault causing harm at various locations in Dublin. The court described the attacks as "reprehensible" and imposed a 15‑month sentence for the first assault and a consecutive 18‑month term for the subsequent assaults, backdated to March 2021 when he entered custody.
