Dublin man caught trying to flush cocaine down toilet is jailed for five years
Summary
Patrick Kelly, 32, of Croftwood Park, Ballyfermot, was arrested after Gardaí discovered a large cocaine stash in his home. When officers entered, they found a cloud of white dust, a bag of cocaine in the toilet, and evidence of drug mixing, including a blender, gloves, weighing scales, and mixing agents. The search also uncovered 489 g of heroin in a palm tree and additional cocaine under a garden bin, totaling 2.9 kg of cocaine, 489 g of heroin, and almost 7 kg of mixing agents. Kelly pleaded guilty to possession of drugs for sale or supply on 8 April 2014. He admitted he mixed and blended the cocaine and held the heroin, claiming he was involved to pay a €10,000 debt. The second man present was not charged. Judge Martin Nolan sentenced Kelly to five years' imprisonment, noting the offence was a one‑off event unlikely to recur.
