Knife missing from block in home of murder accused, trial hears
Summary
During a murder trial at the Central Criminal Court, the prosecution presented evidence that a knife was missing from a knife block in the home of Wayne Kennedy, a 33‑year‑old Dublin man charged with murdering David Spain and seriously harming Sean Turner on 26 December 2013. Garda Patrick Black photographed the kitchen and noted the absence of one knife from the block. A knife handle, about 12 cm long with the blade missing, and a black iPhone were later found in the green area of the Shankill estate where the alleged altercation took place. Garda Paul Byrne recounted arriving at the scene after a call about two men stabbed outside Rathsallagh Park, describing chaos and the presence of Wayne Kennedy. Mrs. Kennedy testified she was asleep when the incident occurred and heard a banging noise. Garda Brian Hall was also called to testify about a man named Ian Messitt who mentioned Wayne Kennedy. Wayne Kennedy pleaded not guilty.
