Summary
Michelle Murray, a student working part‑time in the Lantern Rooms on the night of the Stardust fire, testified that she and three friends had gone behind the shutters of the dispense bar for a break, watched a disco competition, and then left through the Lantern Rooms exit after a small fire was reported. She recalled a man in a white shirt who claimed to have seen someone slitting a shutter and pouring paraffin, but she did not know him. Murray agreed with Bernard Condon SC that many tall tales were circulating about the fire. Caroline Maher, an 18‑year‑old lounge girl, described the fire as initially small but rapidly spreading from the seat to the ceiling, with smoke rushing up the wall. She heard people shout "fire fire" and saw smoke follow her as she exited.
