Summary
An 18‑year‑old, Josh Cummins, admitted to intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm to Alanna Quinn Idris, who was blinded in one eye during an organised attack by a gang of four youths on Ballyfermot Road on 30 December 2021. Ms Quinn Idris, now 18, was struck in the face with the saddle of an electric scooter, resulting in unconsciousness, a shattered tooth, a broken cheekbone, a ruptured eyeball and permanent loss of vision in her right eye after multiple reconstructive surgeries. Cummins pleaded guilty before Dublin Circuit Criminal Court and will be sentenced on 14 November. In March, his co‑accused Darragh Lyons was sentenced to four and a half years for assault causing serious harm to Ms Quinn Idris, and for assault causing harm to Louis O'Sullivan and violent disorder in the same incident. Two other accused have also been charged.
