Alanna Quinn Idris, blinded in one eye after a gang of four youths attacked her on Ballyfermot Road on 30 December 2021, was described by her defence counsel as a "courageous young woman" who tried to defend a friend during the assault. The attackers, including 19‑year‑old Josh Cummins, pleaded guilty to causing serious harm to Ms Quinn Idris, violent disorder, assault on Louis O'Sullivan and the use of a hurl. Cummins also pleaded guilty to assault causing harm to O'Sullivan.
