Summary
Richard Daly, 55, was arrested at Huntsman's House in Clondalkin after a customs officer detected cannabis during a random spot check. Gardaí found an "Aladdin's cave" of drugs worth €522,952, including cannabis herb, resin, heroin, amphetamines and cocaine, as well as 93 rounds of ammunition, 129 stolen NCT certificates, 98 stolen FBD insurance certificates, a stolen Garda uniform with accessories, and camera equipment belonging to a filming company. Daly pleaded guilty to five counts: possession of drugs for sale or supply, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of a stolen Garda uniform, and possession of other stolen goods. Judge Desmond Hogan imposed concurrent sentences totalling ten years, suspending the final five years. The five‑year term for the new offences will run consecutively to Daly's current four‑year term, which was reactivated after being fully suspended at the outset. Daly has 20 prior convictions and was described by his defence as having cooperated with authorities.
