Man was on bail for assault when he attacked woman in pub
Summary
Padraig Murphy, 30, was sentenced to three years' imprisonment, with the final 18 months suspended, for assault causing harm to Tracey Pavone, 39, in the Cottage Inn pub, Bluebell Avenue, Dublin. The offence occurred on 8 June 2014 when Murphy, who was out on bail for a separate assault, grabbed Pavone by the neck, dragged her out of the pub, and called her a "whore". A woman with Murphy punched and kicked Pavone. CCTV captured the incident. Pavone suffered bleeding, bruising and tenderness, and later reported panic attacks, recurring nightmares and confidence difficulties. Murphy had previously been jailed for 18 months for another assault and was released in May of the same year. He pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. Judge Melanie Greally noted his history of violent convictions and the seriousness of the offence, sentencing him to three years' imprisonment with the final 18 months suspended.
