The Labour Court disallowed Glanbia Foods Ltd's appeal and affirmed a Rights Commissioner's recommendation that a worker was covered by the agreed voluntary severance arrangements. The decision was dated 7 July 2000. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought a redundancy or relocation package for its member after the Rathfarnham site closure. Glanbia argued that he had accepted a promotion and his position was not redundant. The Court found no basis to exclude him from the arrangements agreed between the company and union.
