The Labour Court disallowed a union appeal seeking six years of back pay for a State Enrolled Nurse at Sisters Of La Sagesse Services Centre, leaving a Rights Commissioner’s £12,000 recommendation in place. The decision was signed on 27 July 2000. The union argued that the worker had been substantially underpaid and that six years’ retrospection was justified. The Centre said it had agreed to pay her 90% of the Staff Nurse scale from January 1999. The Court considered the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation reasonable and said it should be accepted.
