The Labour Court amended a £1,500 unfair-dismissal recommendation to £500 after Campbell Catering’s appeal. The decision was signed on 14 September 2000. The Court found the worker had decided to end her employment, but was concerned about how the company handled the situation and recommended a £500 payment.
The worker said she was told she was being dismissed at a meeting after returning to work. Campbell Catering said she left the meeting and it had not dismissed her. A Rights Commissioner, who heard the company’s case uncontested, found unfair dismissal and recommended £1,500 compensation. The Labour Court amended that recommendation to £500.
