In 2000, the Labour Court upheld a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation in a dispute between R.T.E. and a Senior Assistant Librarian over promotion, job status and a manager’s comment. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, had appealed. The decision was signed on 11 October 2000. The Rights Commissioner found that a March 1999 meeting was unfair to the worker on procedural grounds and recommended that the dispute be treated as resolved. The Labour Court was satisfied that the case had been handled appropriately. It said that when the worker returned from her career break, there should be no outstanding matters against her on her record or otherwise.
