The Labour Court upheld a £1,500 compensation recommendation for a shop worker after Martin Hanbury appealed the finding that she was unfairly dismissed. The decision was signed on 24 October 2000. The Rights Commissioner had recommended the payment after finding the worker was unfairly dismissed. Hanbury alleged serious misconduct, which the worker denied. The Court said the employer had missed the earlier hearings and its representative could not give direct evidence to support the allegations or otherwise justify the dismissal.
