In 2000, the Labour Court rejected the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s appeal in its dispute with Irish Glass Bottles Limited and affirmed a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation that a worker’s rate remain unchanged under the 1992 agreement. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, sought the full chargehand rate for work in the raw materials section. He received that rate when covering for another worker, a difference of £25 a week. The Court saw no basis to disagree with the Rights Commissioner. Its decision was signed on 15 February 2000.
