The Labour Court upheld a recommendation to reduce a Killarney Ryan Hotel worker’s final written warning to a verbal warning, deemed expired on 31 October 2001. The decision was dated 16 July 2002. The union appealed after the worker was suspended with pay and reinstated with a final written warning. She said she had been refused breaks and told to stay beyond 10pm to clean her section. The hotel said she had taken a 20-minute break and was rostered until “finish”. The Court also recommended that the hotel look favourably at paying sick benefit from the time she qualified under its scheme.
