In 2003, the Labour Court amended a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation in a dispute between Kellihers Hardware (Tralee) Ltd and a worker over additional duties. The decision was signed on 1 December 2003. The Court found no justification for increasing the company’s original €761.84 annual offer, and recommended that it be reoffered for the worker to accept. The earlier recommendation of a €25 weekly increase was amended. The worker, a sales assistant in the heating and plumbing department, had taken on bathroom and shower accessories without extra staff or a salary adjustment. The union, Mandate, argued that his additional workload was intensive and time-consuming.
