Labour Court raises compensation recommendation to €8,000 for Vitra worker

By Saoirse Doyle

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court upheld the general principle of a recommendation to re-engage a worker at Vitra Ireland Limited and increased compensation from €5,000 to €8,000. Its decision was dated 2 February 2007. The worker, a Quality Sorting & Packing Charge Hand, said she was demoted without explanation or notice. Vitra said she had difficulty in the role and was reassigned after her relationship with her manager broke down. The Court noted the absence of an appropriate grievance procedure and a sick pay scheme, and hoped the resolution would facilitate the worker’s return and future advancement.
