The Labour Court overturned a Rights Commissioner's recommendation to upgrade a worker's salary at Bon Secours Hospital, but recommended a €5,000 goodwill payment. The decision was signed on 27 May 2010. The worker, a part-time Haemovigilance Officer, said she had been assured she would receive an upgrade if her former Senior Medical Scientist post was upgraded. The hospital said her contract made no such promise. The Court found there was no agreement to upgrade her while she remained a Haemovigilance Officer, so her appeal failed. It largely upheld the hospital's appeal, finding the regrading applied to specific posts rather than everyone holding the grade. The €5,000 was recommended in full and final settlement as a one-off goodwill measure.
