Labour Court overturns finding against worker and recommends €3,000 from crèche

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court upheld a worker’s appeal and recommended that The Learning Tree Crèche pay her €3,000 after finding her employment was unfairly terminated. The decision was signed on 11 April 2012. The worker said she understood that her contract had been extended for three months. The crèche said she had been told she was receiving only a three-day extension. The Court found that, after a meeting with management, she understood her employment would continue for three months, but it was extended by only three days. The Court overturned the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation that the claim was not well founded. It recommended €3,000 in full and final settlement; the sum was not for pecuniary loss.
