The Labour Court varied a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation on 25 June 2014, deciding that a worker’s claim for retrospective Parcel Productivity Allowance should be covered by the terms of any settlement emerging from collective talks. An Post had stopped paying the allowance when he was promoted to Team Leader. The worker argued that comparable employees had retained it after promotion. An Post said the issue was being dealt with through a collective industrial relations process. The Court noted that the company had undertaken to include the claim in the eventual settlement; it did not decide that the worker was entitled to a particular allowance or amount.
