In 1987, the Labour Court increased a disturbance payment recommendation for a University College Dublin worker from £650 to £1,350 on the union’s appeal. The decision was dated 6 April 1987. The Amalgamated Union of Engineering Workers (TASS) sought compensation for the worker’s transfer from Belfield to Lyons Estate. University College Dublin argued the move was to the worker’s advantage and asked the Court to leave the £650 recommendation unchanged. The Court said the request for the transfer had lapsed some time before it took place, and amended the recommendation to £1,350.
