In 1989, the Labour Court upheld a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation and rejected the Irish Transport and General Workers’ Union’s appeal over compensation for a worker at Mitsui Denman (Ireland) Limited. The decision was signed on 31 January 1989. The union argued that the worker had lost a supervisory role and grade 1 chargehand pay after a reorganisation. The company said the worker had received the agreed monetary terms under its action and corrective plan. The Court found no grounds to alter the recommendation, so the appeal failed.
