In 1992, the Labour Court upheld a worker’s appeal and recommended that Avoncourt Packaging Limited pay £300, up from the Rights Commissioner’s £150 recommendation. The decision was signed on 16 November 1992. The worker appealed, saying the settlement for her alleged unfair dismissal was insufficient. The company had said the dismissal followed her sick-leave record and walking off the job, and did not attend the hearing.
