The Labour Court upheld the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s appeal and directed Bus Eireann to pay £600 to settle a part-time school bus driver’s loss-of-earnings dispute. The decision was signed on 24 June 1994. The worker had been off sick from 6 June 1992 to 28 May 1993. The union said Bus Eireann delayed his return by losing his final medical certificate, and sought compensation and a return to full employment as a part-time driver. The company denied responsibility, saying it could not roster him before medical clearance. It also said he had declined work and taken holidays when relief duties were available.
