In 1995, the Labour Court rejected a worker’s appeal and upheld the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation that his pension claim fail. The decision was signed on 27 June 1995. The worker said he had not understood that a £1,400 payment when he left Irish Glass Bottle Company Limited in 1979 included giving up pension rights. The company said it had warned him that leaving would cost him his pension. The Rights Commissioner had also referred to a 1992 withdrawal of the claim in return for £1,000, accepted in full and final settlement. The Labour Court found no grounds to change the recommendation.
