The Labour Court upheld the rejection of a worker’s claims for a return to night porter duties and £3,339 in lay-off losses. Its decision was dated 31 October 1995. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, argued that he should have been put on a three-day week like other staff. Three Lakes Hotel said business was slack and he lacked experience for the range of work covered by those staff. The Court urged the hotel to be sensitive to how workers were selected for lay-offs.
