The Labour Court rejected the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s appeal and upheld the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation that the union and worker accept Cablelink Limited’s decision over a verbal warning. The Court’s decision was dated 27 January 1997. The union argued that a supervisor breached the company-union agreement by issuing the warning and that the worker had not been given a chance to put forward his case. Cablelink said the warning reflected performance concerns and was issued on the supervisor’s manager’s instruction. The Court found no reason to amend the recommendation.
