The Labour Court upheld the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s appeal and required Fruit Of The Loom International Limited to let a worker finish at 1.30pm on Fridays, while working later Monday to Thursday. The decision was dated 14 December 1999. The union argued that there was no agreement to change the worker’s hours. The company said the revised schedule met operational needs. The Court found that a 4pm Friday finish was not an absolute necessity.
