WRC awards worker €500 for unpaid annual leave among four successful complaints

By Saoirse Doyle

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC ordered an employer to pay an employee €197 for unpaid wages, €500 for unpaid annual leave, €100 for minimum notice and €400 for unfair dismissal. The decision was dated 22 June 2016. The employee, a general operative and janitor, said two wage cheques bounced, accrued leave and notice were unpaid, and his dismissal lacked fair procedure. He withdrew a separate Industrial Relations Act complaint at the hearing. The WRC upheld the four complaints on uncontested evidence. It noted that no loss had arisen from the dismissal when it ordered €400 compensation on that complaint.
