Sandwich artist’s two claims fail after he misses WRC hearing

By Donal Gilhooly

Workplace Relations Commission ·

A sandwich artist’s discrimination and unfair dismissal claims against a take-away restaurant failed for want of prosecution after he did not attend a Workplace Relations Commission hearing. The decision was dated 23 May 2017. The adjudication officer said the complainant had notice of the hearing and waited to allow for a late arrival. Two witnesses attended for the restaurant. Both claims were found not well founded and failed for want of prosecution because the complainant did not attend; the merits were not decided.
