WRC rejects takeaway worker’s minimum wage complaint

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC found a takeaway worker’s minimum wage complaint was not well founded in a decision dated 25 November 2016. The worker said a proposed €0.50 deduction from delivery fees would leave his hourly pay at €9.15 without increasing his actual earnings. The takeaway said it had raised the hourly rate to €9.16. The WRC accepted the takeaway’s evidence that no minimum wage breach had occurred, finding the worker had provided no tangible evidence that he was paid below the minimum rate.
