The WRC awarded a tenant €500 after finding that a landlord discriminated by refusing to accept tenants receiving rent allowance. The decision was dated 8 May 2017.
The tenant said he saw rental advertisements stating that rent allowance was not accepted, and that the landlord confirmed this during a phone call. The landlord did not attend the hearing. The WRC found that refusing accommodation on the housing assistance ground breached the Equal Status Acts.
